Botanic Endeavour 250 Trail

Botanic Gardens Australia and New Zealand commemorate the anniversary voyage of discovery onboard the HMB Endeavour, during which botanists, Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander made a comprehensive collection of flora. Pressings of over 520 new taxa unknown to western science were collected along Australia’s east coast. There were also thousands of botanical illustrations made, all which somehow made their way back to England.

In Australia, 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of these discoveries. You are invited to Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens to be an epic voyager for the day and discover some of the plants that Banks and Solander collected during their voyage.
