Great opportunity during the cooler months to get outdoors and explore the garden. Discover some of the amazing plants that make up our Living Collection and what ones are at risk in the wild. Perhaps spot some of the many birds, native bees and butterflies that make the gardens their home.

Falun Gong event

Falun Gong meditation and relaxation sessions

Falun Gong offers you relaxation, meditation, inner peace and health through movement. You're invited to come along and experience a session in the beautiful surrounds of the Botanic Gardens.

Do you enjoy nature and exercise? Have you heard of the Mackay Parkrun? They have their weekly timed run on every Saturday. It’s free to participate and you can walk, jog or run.

Native Plants Queensland - Society for Growing Australian Plants Mackay branch -  Meetings

Every month on the 1st Thursday of the month, until further notice
7:30pm - 10:30pm

Are you interested in local native plants? NPQ - SGAP Mackay branch is a regional branch of Native Plants Queensland. They promote and propagate native plants for this region and hold monthly meetings, propagation mornings, plant sales, planting bees and more. All visitors are welcome.

Photo Walkabout workshops are a free activity open to beginners to advanced photographers who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge.
