Unique outdoor entertainment venue available to the public

The beautiful Botanic Gardens could be the back drop for your next big event, market, fete or festival.

Council has approved guidelines for groups to use the $1.1 million dollar Meadowlands Amphitheatre, complete with car parking, toilet facilities and an all access pathway at the Botanic Gardens.

“The Meadowlands site was selected by council so residents can once again experience the atmosphere of outdoor concerts following the removal of the Caneland Soundshell in 2010.”

“The first and very successful event held at the Meadowlands Amphitheatre was Rock Pop Mime on Saturday, July 27 hosted by the Mackay Host Lions Club.”

“Council in partnership with key stakeholders, health and regulatory officers and entertainment specialists developed guidelines for the use of the Meadowlands Amphitheatre to ensure the public’s safety and to protect wildlife and nearby neighbours from excess noise.”

“The Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens is a unique setting filled with beautiful fauna and wildlife and as such every group that uses the facility will need to comply with the guidelines and make sure audio levels meet the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act.”

Any proposed events that fall outside of the guidelines will be referred to the Meadowlands Events Reference Group Committee for consideration.

The Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens Meadowlands Amphitheatre Festivals and Event Guidelines will be monitored over the next 17 months and a report will be prepared for council to ensure its effectiveness in protecting our natural habitat and wildlife.
