Nature is already decorating for Christmas...with Stars, Bells, Candles and Baubles. I am the flower of the Leichhardt Tree  Nauclea orientalis and the whole tree is decorated with these gorgeous baubles. My bursts of blooms only appear for a few days and if you have missed them, come back again to see if you catch the next flush of flowers. You may see some fading blooms that are beginnings of the fruit.

My distinctive yellow flowers resemble a spiky round bauble.
...Really I’m one of Nature’s Christmas Decorations...

Flowering in flushs of blooms periodically in November and December, I will soon change to an edible fruit, which will look similar to a dirty golf ball.
The fruit, can be eaten raw, has a slightly bitter taste and not too dissimilar to mushy banana. The flesh and the small black seeds are eaten, the skin being discarded.

You can see me flowering now in the Botanic Gardens in a few locations... On the Right hand side of the Board walk and Eulamere shelter entrance, at the bottom of the Finch Hatton Gorge Waterway waterfall below the Cafe and in the Sarina - Proserpine Lowlands area of the Gardens near the causeway.
