Landcare Day...Sunday 23 August, 9am – 2pm
Visit the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and be inspired to “Make a difference”… in your backyard:
• Jerry Coleby-Williams from ABC's Gardening Australia will talk about “Low Carbon Gardening”;and conduct his "Ask it Solve it" Sessions.
• Cooking and composting demonstrations with Luke and Shine from Mackay's Community Gardens;
• Information on local wildlife, plants and environmental initiatives;
• Recycled art in a "Garden of Flora"
• View Botanic Artists at work
• Native plants on sale.
• Join in with Kids Backyard Games
• Help to build and weave a cubby from Garden prunings.
Participate in Landcare Day and help "Make a difference" to the planet by starting in your own Backyard!
Arty additions to Landcare Day..
Children’s Recycled Art workshops.
“Recycled Art... Creating..."A Garden of Flora" for Landcare Day
Children will be making flowers, plants and creatures, from recycled materials for an installation at the Botanic Gardens…(A Garden of Flora) for LandCare Day.
When?
Saturday August 1 and August 15 2pm -4pm.
Where?
Botanic Gardens Meeting Room
Who can attend?
Limited to 20 children school age children
Cost?
$5… BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL. Payment of $5 must be received at the Botanic Gardens 1 week prior to workshop.
What to bring?
Participants to bring recycled plastic bottles, plastic containers all shapes and sizes, and scissors.
Wear protective or old clothing to prevent paint / glue stains.
