Is your family looking for more green time, less screen time? Join us at the Open Day on Saturday, June 2 at the Tropical Sun Lawn from 9am!

Join us at the Open Day to celebrate our Botanic Gardens and meet volunteers from likeminded community groups who have helped us grow and find out more about what they do and how you can be involved.

• Complete the family quiz trail from the café to the Aust. South Sea Islanders Hut for a chance to WIN a $50 café voucher.
• FREE Native Plants giveaway -  get in quick!
• FREE kid’s activities; make a magical tree elf and clay leaf pendants
• FREE guided walks; meet at Gardens administration
  • 8am Early Birds guided bird watching walk
  • 9.20am & 10.20am Local Plant Families guided walk

Activities from 9am to 2pm include:

• Gardening Q & A with Botanic Gardens staff
• Worm farming demonstration + giveaway
• Botanical Art demonstration
• Learn about the rare & threatened plants in our Botanic Gardens with members from Society for Growing Australian Plants (SGAP).
• Australian South Sea Islanders Hut OPEN TO THE PUBLIC with cultural artifacts on display. Entry via Ram Chandra Place
• Family Bonsai potting activity hosted by Mackay Bonsai Society
• Australian Wildlife Rescue Service will have baby animals to meet
• Free gentle exercise with Falun Dafa
• ‘First 5 Forever’ kids drop-in-zone hosted by Mackay Libraries
