Get active and explore your Gardens by bike

Did you know that cyclists can explore the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens along the shared-use path?

Cyclists can explore the Botanic Gardens also the signposted shared-use path that extends from Hume Street to Ram Chandra Place with links to Lagoon Street next to the Gardens Visitors Centre and Crowleys Road across the lagoon. Bicycles must be dismounted and walked along all other pathways.

Pedestrians and cyclists share this path. To allow for all users to enjoy the gardens - cyclists and pedestrians are asked to observe the following rules when shared this pathway.

Cyclists must keep left and give way to all other path users.

Please ring your bell when approaching pedestrians.

Ride slowly and responsibly - watch for ‘slow’ signs along the route.

Pedestrians - please be courteous and allow cyclists to pass

Wildlife may share the path with you - be on the lookout for birdlife and snakes.

Magpie season runs throughout October and nesting magpies are currently present near the South Sea Island Long House and near the Lagoon Street/Hume Street intersection.

Look for the yellow signs.
