Guest speaker Kate Heffernan talks about the SMART GARDENER PROJECT at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens Friends AGM

Friends of the Gardens AGM: 7.30 pm:  Tuesday June 21:
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 21st June in the Meeting Room of the Botanic Gardens. Nominations are needed for president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and three committee members. The work is not onerous and a variety of skills and tasks can be utilized or even developed, so please put your hand up if you are willing to be a part of the executive.
Following the formal part of the meeting, Kate Heffernan will talk about the SMART GARDENING PROJECT. Whether you are a keen gardener or horticulturalist, a non-gardener who appreciates the solace and beauty of a garden, a young family teaching their children to care for the environment or the new gardener keen to get their hands dirty, the SMART gardening principles will help you discover how rewarding gardening can be. This should be a fascinating talk.
Kate is qualified in Horticulture, Landscape and Education and her career includes practical horticulture, vocational teaching, designing and developing private and public gardens, horticulture media, producing industry training resources and case studies and presenting Garden Design workshops. Kate is currently involved with the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens and President of the Queensland branch of BGANZ.
The financial year for Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens Friends Association runs from May 2010 to April 2011, which means that annual memberships are now due. You do not need to renew your membership if you joined after November last year.
