Can the community participate in the creation of the Timber Trees Arboretum? YES!

Join in the Friends of the Gardens“Timber Trees”Planting Bee:
Saturday June 14th: 8.30am – 12 noon

75 trees will be planted in staggered straight rows to represent current sustainable forestry techniques and the species that were original logged from our virgin forests like Red and Mackay Cedar.

The area the trees will be planted in is prone to strong SE winds and to give these trees the best start, they must be planted to the MRBG Planting Guide standard.

This planting bee will commence at 8:30am sharp…
to receive clear instructions and a demonstration from the MRBG Team Leader Horticulture Ross Demuth.

If you arrive late – it may cause communication breakdown and slow down our ability to oversee the planting as we reiterate instructions, so please help make this day run smoothly by being ready for an 8:30am start at the arboretum site on Lagoon Street (look for the Garden Friends marquee to sign on).

Please RSVP to the Botanic Gardens on 49527300 or email botanic@mackay.qld.gov.au . We can then send you a copy of the MRBG Planting guide standard for you to read prior to the Planting Bee.

If you are a first time volunteer – please arrive at 8:15am sharp for a safety induction with MRBG Visitors Services Officer Maya Harrison.
Cost Free: RSVP essential for catering (morning tea) by Wednesday June 11th to the Botanic Gardens.
