Botanica IV 2009 - Botanical Art Exhibition at Lagoon's Gallery

This year’s "Botanica IV" exhibition features plants growing in the Botanic Gardens, with a focus on the special natives of our local area such as the Botanic Garden's floral emblem, the Mount Blackwood Holly.

Another flower featuring in the Exhibition is the lovely Native Lasiandra - Melastoma malabathricum subsp. malabathricum.

This local beauty has been chosen as the Botanical Art Interest Group’s official floral emblem and should be in bloom at the Gardens during October.

Botanical artists aim to work with accuracy as well as artistry to portray the joy and beauty of plants in the finest detail.

Most of the artworks in this exhibition are watercolour paintings.

Also on display are graphite and pen-and-ink artworks as well as artists’ sketches, plant studies, materials, and crafted work inspired by botanical themes.

The "Botanica IV" is available for viewing from Wednesday 30th September till Sunday 1st November 2009.

The Lagoon's Cafe and Gallery opening hours are Wednesday to Friday 10am -3pm and Weekends 9am -4pm.
