All you need to know about "The BIRDS and The BEES' on Valentine's Day!

Come and join us for the Friends of The Gardens "Birds and Bees" Guided Walk on Saturday, February 14 for a 4pm start

Friends of the Gardens will be joined by members of BirdLife Mackay.

With over 100 different species of birds making their home in the Botanic Gardens, we are sure to spot a few with binoculars, scopes or just with our eyes. The elusive Bush Hen may even make an appearance.

Walking along the lagoon edge path will provide more opportunities to see wetland birds and possibly some small bush birds.

Bees will also feature on the day with some information about different native bees, which are often seen among the flowers. Meet some blue banded bees, possibly carpenter bees or some other of the 10 most noticed native bees.

Meet at the Botanic Gardens Meeting Room at 4pm for the guided walk.

A welcome to 2015 BBQ will follow at 6pm with participants to bring along a salad or sweet/fruit to share. Breadrolls and meat will be provided for the BBQ.
