A Birthday Present for the Botanic Gardens from the "Friends"

"Botanic Gardens 10th Birthday… Present No 1.
The Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens is 10 years old in 2013 and the first birthday present to the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens is from the “Friends of the Gardens”.
Three new interpretative signs titled ‘Beyond The Green’, ‘From Then Until Now’, and ‘You Are Standing On A Sepal’ will be unveiled by Mayor Deidre Comerford and Cr Theresa Morgan on Saturday February 2nd: also ‘WORLD WETLANDS DAY’ at  4.00pm.

The signs will be mounted on the Lagoons Outlook Deck. The aim of the signs is to give visitors and the local community, a small snip-it of information about the Botanic Gardens, as they take in the views of the Garden’s lagoon.
After the unveiling, The Friends of the Garden will also be participating in their first social event with a Guided Walk… highlighting the Lagoon edge plants, water plants and the creatures and birds which live and feed in these habitats, followed by a BBQ.
