Meadowlands development continues
The first stage of the exciting Meadowlands development at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens commenced in July. A planned 10 year phase by phase development of key infrastructure and gardens will be undertaken in the ‘Meadowlands sector’ – the Alexandra Street side of the Lagoons. A ex-sugar cane paddock will be transformed and will feature solely plants from the Mackay/Whitsunday region – many threatened with extinction in the wild.

New Exhibition Blooms at the Botanic Gardens.
“Botanica V” 2010 6 October – 31 October
This year’s "Botanica V" exhibition features some of the plants growing in the Botanic Gardens. There are some special native plants included in the exhibition which are considered “Threatened in the Wild” such as the Botanic Garden's floral emblem, the Mount Blackwood Holly.

Improvements to Tamarind Carpark
Please be advised that throughout February, March 2011 (weather permitting), the Tamarind Carpark (near the children’s “Under the Banyan” PlayGarden) at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens will be reformed and sealed. During this period the carpark may be closed and on street parking will increase during this period.
