Located just a few kilometres from the Mackay CBD, the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens offers your next conference a chance to meet in a relaxed and peaceful setting.

The Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens offers two locations within the Visitors Centre, for your next meeting, function, workshop or conference in the beautiful and peaceful surrounds of the gardens - day or night.

The meeting room

The meeting room features a simple, modern layout adjacent to the lagoon lookout deck, café and gallery.  Large glass doors open onto the deck and vertical blinds can be closed for privacy, however the room is unable to be completely blacked out.

Capacity for the meeting room is conference table style seating for 12, worktable style seating for 20 or theatre style seating for a maximum of 30.

Dimensions are 8x5 metres and includes:

  • Large conference table/ 5 trestle tables available
  • Standard seating
  • Pull down wall mounted projection screen
  • Air-conditioning and ceiling fans
  • Crockery, glasses, urn etc.
  • Ice water and glasses on the tables or back of the room
  • Access to internal toilet and kitchenette for cleaning up, fridge

Fees and charges

Facility hire fees for the current financial year are $97(gst inc) per day or part thereof.

Other items available for daily hire include:

  • Whiteboard (inc markers) $8
  • Television and video $13 (with a refundable bond of $338)
  • Data projector $58 (with a refundable bond of $338)

Please note the room hirers are responsible for washing up crockery used (if provided), unless full catering has been provided by the Lagoons Cafe.

Lagoons Gallery & Cafe

The Lagoons Gallery is a large premier space for your next dinner presentation, reception or cocktail function with capacity for 40 round table or cocktail style for 100+. A large glass feature wall looks into the rainforest Eungella Cloud Garden and offers glimpses of the Lagoons and surrounding Gardens.

The Lagoon Deck is a striking covered venue directly adjacent to the gallery for outdoor functions with an amazing views of the Botanic Gardens. The lagoon deck is suitable for round table seating for 70 or stand-up cocktail style functions for 300+.

Operated by Grinders Corporate Catering, the Lagoons Café offers you a unique and high profile location. Grinders can offer you expert knowledge to create a unique themed night that your guests will remember.

Please note that catering for your function must be supplied by the Lagoons Cafe and minimum catering levels may apply. The Lagoons Café is licensed.

Dimensions of the gallery are approximately 14x9 metres with the deck area covering approximately 36x5 metres and includes:

  • Seating for 70, 25 square tables, access to 5 trestle tables, power and lighting.

Fees & Charges

Facility hire fees for the current financial year are $260 for the gallery and deck (with a $520 refundable bond).
